Gujarat: BJP Visnagar MLA attacked, three arrested

Rushikesh Patel, BJP MLA from Visnagar constituency said that such attacks on his vehicle had happened earlier too.

Rushikesh Patel, BJP MLA from Visnagar constituency in Mehsana district, was attacked Tuesday night with stones by some unidentified persons when he was returning home after attending an event. Patel’s car got damaged in the incident, but he escaped any injury. Mehsana police arrested three persons in the connection and are investigating if they are associated with Patidar quota stir organisations, Sardar Patel Group (SPG) or Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS).

Patel said that such attacks on his vehicle had happened earlier too. Mehsana SP Chaitanya Mandalik said, “We have arrested three persons in the case under attempt to murder, rioting and allied charges. The investigation of the case has been transferred to the Local Crime Branch.” The accused have been identified as Raju Patel, Sandip Virpara (Patel) and Suvas. Meanwhile, state home minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja said, “There were other such unregistered incidents in Mehsana which have come to our knowledge and we are taking it very seriously.
