A 55-year-old woman was killed in a firing incident following a clash that erupted between two communities at Bhadana village in Mandal taluka of Ahmedabad district on Tuesday morning. Four others were also injuried in the incident. Nobody has been arrested,police said

The victim,identified as Manjula,wife of one Ambalal Patel,was drying up clothes on her terrace when a bullet hit her in the chest. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Deputy Superintendent of Police G H Pandya,Viramgam division,said the killing was a result of a clash between Bharwad and Thakore communities in the village. The clash broke out after an an FIR against a person who had allegedly molested a minor girl from the other community,he said.

“The person accused of molesting the girl is employed with the Army. He had come on a vacation when the incident took place. However,people from his community protested saying that he may lose his job following the complaint. But the other community was adamant and refused to compromise,” the police officer said.
