AHMEDABAD: State Congress vice-president Girish Parmar was on Thursday detained for over four hours after he protested against the removal of an illegal structure having photographs of Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and Gautam Buddha behind the Kagdapeeth police station.
Parmar told reporters that the photographs were kept under a small makeshift structure where people,mostly dalits,have been going for prayers for years.
On Thursday morning,when he came to know that a team of municipal corporation had come to demolish it,he rushed to the spot and sat in front of the bulldozer after which he was detained.
CM befooling farmers: Cong
State Congress president Arjun Modhwadia said the CM was befooling farmers as the interest on their loans had already been waived by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development owing to the current drought conditions.
Modhwadia said about 10 lakh applications for farm connections were pending but the Modi government was sitting them. He also attacked the state government for not giving compensation to the kin of farmers in the state who committed suicide over the past two months.
