Geetha Johri out,Rajkot gets new police chief

In the second round of transfers of IPS officers in month,Rajkot police commissioner Geetha Johri was replaced with additional DGP Harjeshwar P Singh on Thursday.

Johri,who was appointed the Rajkot police chief three years ago during the controversial Sohrabuddin fake encounter probe,goes to State Police Housing Corporation in Gandhinagar.

Singh,a 1980-batch IPS officer who was served a showcause along with two other police officers,Atul Karwal and Satish Verma,in connection with the landing of RDX at Gosabara in Porbandar in 1993,was transferred as ADGP (inquiry) only on April 8.

Ahmedabad crime branch’s special commissioner Mohan Jha,1985-batch IPS officer,has been posted as ADGP (inquiry).
