AS NIFT in Gandhinagar flags off its lateral entry admissions this year, around 19 seats are up for grabs for Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F. Tech.) courses, of which 9 are NRI seats. The lateral entry scheme, in its third year now, enables candidates a direct entry into the second year and admissions are released on seats left vacant after giving admission to regular four-year UG programme.
The scheme, under NIFT Lateral Entry Admission policy, enables diploma and degree holders who clear a written test, studio test/technology aptitude test and a personal interview to directly join the regular UG students in their second year. While online registrations began this month, a written examination is set to be held in June. “The applications of prospective candidates Lateral Entry Programme are processed centrally and the candidate list is sent to us. We’ve been having lateral placements for three years. However, this year we have more vacant seats compared to previous years,” said Arindam Das, NIFT-Gandhinagar director.
