Frequent diversion of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel in Gujarat due to “police bandobast” seems to have resulted in “non-achievement of targets” set by the Home Department, states a Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report.

“The working of ACB was sub-optimal as there was shortfall in achievement of targets, and traps and decoy operations had limited success,” stated the CAG report tabled in the Gujarat Assembly on Thursday.

“The government directed that ACB should increase the cases of trap/decoy/DA cases by 20 per cent every calender year. Scrutiny of records revealed a shortfall in achieving targets that were as high as 58 % in 2011,” the report said.
