Four persons died after falling off terraces while flying kites during the Uttarayan festival in separate incidents in the city in the last two days,police said on Sunday.

Four persons died after falling off terraces while flying kites during the Uttarayan festival in separate incidents in the city in the last two days,police said on Sunday.

One Krishnalal Gangvani (22) from Naroda area fell off the terrace of his house in Asaram Society on Saturday and was rushed to a civil hospital,where he died during treatment,they said.

In a similar incident that took place in Odhav area on Saturday,in which,one Raju Baria (21) fell off the terrace of a six-storied building and died on the spot.

In two separate incidents on January 14,one Rasiklal Panchal (57) and Chadrakant Bhiojkar (64),from Amraiwadi and Bapunagar respectively,fell off the terraces of their houses after they slipped a step while coming down.

They were both rushed to the civil hospital where they died during the treatment.

On Sunday,two teenagers sustained burn injuries when they tried to remove a kite entangled from an over-head electricity cable near the Ahmedabad railway station.

They have been identified as Hitesh Solanki (16) and Rahil Taili (12),police said adding both have been admitted to civil hospital for treatment.

The Emergency Service handled 204 emergencies related to Uttarayan,which include road accidents on January 14,whereas the figure for the entire state was 916,sources said.

Uttarayan is the six-month period between Makar Sankranti and Karka Sankranti,when the sun travels towards the north on the celestial sphere.

The starting of Uttarayan is celebrated as Makar Sankranti in the country.
