Former Indian Express journalist dies at 80

He had joined The Indian Express in 1968 as sub-editor and worked till his retirement in early ’90s.

Umesh Narain, veteran journalist who worked at the Ahmedabad edition of The Indian Express for over two decades, passed away in a city hospital here on June 3 after suffering brain haemorrhage and age-related complications.

A bachelor, Narain was 80. He had joined The Indian Express in 1968 as sub-editor and worked till his retirement in early ’90s. His nephew, Vivek, was present at his funeral Saturday.

He worked in various capacities before taking over as sports in-charge.
