District Health authorities have started conducting a thorough screening at Sherkhi village in Vadodara,following a confirmed dengue case in the village.

Seven more suspected cases were detected,which authorities later confirmed on Friday,were not of dengue.

This case was reported four months after the Karolia episode.

After prolonged fever,seven-year-old Hitesh Makwana from Sherkhi village was detected with dengue,following which he was admitted to the Kashiben Gordhandas Patel Children’s Hospital on Thursday.

A team of 30 doctors was sent to the village for a routine health check-up on Friday.

“The door-to-door medical test in the village has found seven general cases of fever. Routine checks are in place in the village and no other dengue case has been detected,” said Dr. Bhagwat Itare,Chief District Health Officer of Vadodara.

Fogging and anti-larval treatment were earlier carried out on Thursday,said authorities.

Itare added: “Since no other case has been detected in the village yet,we do not expect any outbreak (of dengue) this time.”
