A court at Una has ordered a police probe against BJP MP from Junagadh Dinu Solanki who is accused of assaulting nephew of Kodinar Congress MLA Dhirsinh Barad in 2005.

Una sessions court judge M B Raval has asked Veraval DySP to probe the matter and submit a report within 60 days.

According to details,Solanki and his supporters had allegedly beaten up Ravisinh and others with sharp weapons at Kodinar on April 29,2005.

Complainant Ravisinh, who was not happy with Kodinar police’s investigation, had moved Kodinar court, which had rejected his plea for an inquiry by an independent agency.

The Una court has also indicted the lower court at Kodinar for rejecting the plea. It observed that though Solanki was named in the FIR,the Kodinar police never took any action against him.

Solanki has been an MLA from Kodinar for three terms. He vacated the seat in 2007 to contest Lok Sabha from Junagadh, which he won.

His name had also cropped up in connection with the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethava. His nephew Pratap was named the prime accused in the case and arrested.
