Acting on a public interest litigation objecting to the passing of Chief Ministers convoy on roads on the ground that it causes inconvenience to public,the Gujarat High Court has directed the state government to inform the court on the procedures being undertaken on the roads when the convoy passes.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Justice J B Pardiwala passed an order in this regard on the PIL moved by Ahmedabad-based Jignesh Goswami.
The petitioner has contended that whenever the CMs convoy passes through roads,it causes a lot of inconvenience to the general pubic due to blockage of traffic.
He also cited an incident when a patient died while the ambulance in which he was being taken got stuck in traffic jam allegedly caused due to the CMs convoy.
The government has been directed to submit a report in this regard within three weeks after which further hearing is scheduled.
