CM Vijay Rupani inaugurated an exhibition on the life and works of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Bahauddin College in Junagadh and flagged off the celebrations to mark the 70th liberation day of Junagadh. The show encapsulates Sardar Patel’s life and his deeds, including the role that he played in liberating Junagadh from the Nawab of the then princely state of Junagadh. The Nawab wanted to merge Junagadh with Pakistan, but was forced to flee by a local liberation movement on November 9, 1947. The exhibition will remain open till November 30.
Meanwhile, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Reshma Patel and 20 others were detained minutes before the CM reached the city. Police said the group was planning protest against the event.
