‘Bootleggers’ attack police team

Four Local Crime Branch (LCB) officials were admitted to Surendrnagar Civil Hospital after being attacked by alleged bootleggers at Lakhawad village in Sayla taluka of Surendranagar district on Thursday.

Four Local Crime Branch (LCB) officials were admitted to Surendrnagar Civil Hospital after being attacked by alleged bootleggers at Lakhawad village in Sayla taluka of Surendranagar district on Thursday. Condition of one of them was reported to be serious.

The incident took place when the police team went to the village following a tip-off that a liquor consignment had arrived there.

According to a complaint filed by the LCB,when the team reached the village,son of one Dalu Kathi asked them to leave. He then called some villagers who allegedly attacked the policemen with sticks,forcing them to return.

Police said Dalu,his son and Bhabhalu Kathi were booked for attempt to murder.
