Savli police on Friday arrested general secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha Ketan Inamdar along with five party workers for allegedly pelting stones at the police station and beating up Sub-Inspector NK Vyas on Thursday.

A mob of around 300 to 400 party workers led by Inamdar pelted stones at the police station after Vyas entered into a verbal altercation. Inamdar wanted Vyas to stop checking of vehicles before entering into Savli for poll eve. However,Vyas refused to bow down.

Following which,Inamdar called in other activists and pelted stones at the police station.

He then allegedly beat up Vyas threatening him with dire consequences.

The police had registered a case on violation of notification issued by the district collector, rioting and intervening in the duty of a government official.

“We have arrested Inamdar and five others for their alleged involvement in the case. Some of the activists entered the police station and asked Vyas to stop checking vehicles for liquor coming into Savli as the elections were nearing,” said Vadodara district Superintendent BS Jebaliya.

Sources said Inamdar has always been notorious in the past. The local leaders from Vadodara city BJP said that Inamdar had beaten up Gujarat Electricity Board deputy engineer over a petty issue earlier.
