Zadafia,Gohil in Maha Gujarat Janata Partys first list of candidates
While releasing their first list of Lok Sabha candidates,Maha Gujarat Janata Party,a breakaway faction of the BJP,on Wednesday equated Chief Minister Narendra Modi corruption index with Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari.
If Zardari is Mr 10 per cent,Modi is Mr 50 per cent’,said MJPs parliamentary board chairman and partys Surat candidate Fakirbhai Chauhan while speaking to reporters about relative corruption at a press conference on Wednesday.
To buttress his point,he referred to the recent report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, which had pointed out to irregularities of over Rs 1,124 crore in the Rs 4,000 crore Suflam-Sujlam water conservation project out of which the government had spent only Rs 2,200 so far.
Chauhan said Modi, who projected himself as Mr Clean by announcing,I don’t accept commissions and dont allow others to take commissions, had infact allowed the Gujarat Electricity Board to buy power at exorbitant rates from the Adanis and that too, without going through the tender process, which had later also been rejected by the Gujarat High Court.
The Modi government, he said, also offered a Rs 350-crore contract for the 108 emergency services vans to the tainted Satyam company. Besides this, the state government had also given a contract to Satyam for the contruction of the Narmada main canal.
MJP president Gordhan Zadafia and general secretary Sunil Oza said there was no difference between the BJP and other parties like the Congress,BSP,SP and the RJD. They said that the BJP,under Modi’s rule in Gujarat, had given Lok Sabha tickets to those involved in drug trafficking, bank and fake currency scams.
If the Congress indulged in vote bank politics and the appeasement of minorities, then Modi did no better. He pardoned a Muslim youth who sent him a terror message, while on the other hand demolished more than 200 temples in Gandhinagar the constituencies of L K Advani and arrested VHP leader Ashwin Patel, said both the leaders.
Zadafia said the party planned to field candidates from as many as 18 seats. The candidates whose names were declared today are Gordhan Zadafia from Bhavnagar,Ramesh Gohil from Amreli,N P Patel from Patan,Amrutlal Fosi from Banaskantha and Faikrbhai Chauhan from Surat.
