His ailing wife to undergo surgery,Babu Bajrangi gets two-day bail

Babu Patel alias Bajarangi, one of the convicts in the 2002 Naroda Patiya massacre case, was granted temporary bail for two days by the Gujarat High Court (HC) Thursday to attend his ailing wife’s operation. Bajrangi’s son,Viren, had moved an application on behalf of his father which was partly allowed by the court.

Bajrangi was convicted in the Naroda Patiya case by a special trial court in August last year. The trial court had condemned him to life imprisonment till death. The state government has decided to move an appeal against Bajrangi seeking death for him, along with eight others, including former BJP minister Dr Maya Kodnani.

Alpesh Kogje,Special Public Prosecutor, said Bajrangi’s wife will undergo a major operation. Bajrangi has been granted bail for April 20 and 21 under the condition that he will be accompanied by a police escort team. The cost of the escorts will be borne by Bajrangi, who is also an accused in the Naroda Gam massacre case.
