Gujarat Parivartan Party leader Gordhan Zadaphia has supported the call but objected strongly to the BJP joining the bandh

The call for Bharat Bandh on Thursday against price hike and foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail has got a mixed response from different parties and groups in Gujarat.

Also,it has given a tool to those parties that were non-existent in the state to support the bandh call and conduct various programmes to make their presence felt in view of coming elections.

Gujarat State Autorickshaw Drivers’ Action Committee leader Ashok Panjabi has announced that no auto driver would take part in the bandh in view of the Jain and Hindu festivals of Samvatsari and Ganesh Chaturthi,but the Association would stick to its demand of roll back of hike in fuel prices.

Gujarat State Organising Committee of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (C) has declared its support to the bandh call and urged people to make it a success.

On the other hand,Smajwadi Party has organised a chakka jam at Naroda Patiya.

Left parties have planned to hold rallies and protests across the state to highlight the “l”yalty” “f the UPA to the US on economic policies.

Janata Dal (U) will organise a dharna at the Town Hall in Ahmedabad and blow whistles to “w”ke up the UPA government”.”

For the BJP,Rajya Sabha member Smriti Irani will join the protest in Narendra Modi’s Maninagar constituency.

BJP national vice-president Purshottam Rupala will attend the protest programmes in Amreli,party MP Bhupendra Yadav in Surat,general secretary

Nirmala Sitharaman in Vadodara,state in-charge Balbir Punj in Navsari and state unit president R C Faldu in Rajkot.
