Attack on police by cattle owners contempt of court: Gujarat HC

A division bench of the High Court was hearing a petition on cattle menace on city roads. In the attack, police inspector K V Davera was severely injured and hospitalised.

Taking serious note of an alleged attack on a raiding team of police and Ahmedabad municipal officials by cattle owners in Sardarnagar on Wednesday, the Gujarat High Court on Thursday termed the incident as “contempt of court”. A division bench of the High Court was hearing a petition on cattle menace on city roads. In the attack, police inspector K V Davera was severely injured and hospitalised.

The division bench said, “If this incident is true, it is very serious. No one can take law in their hands. The attack amounts to contempt of court.”
