A private chopper carrying Narayan Sai,son of godman Asaram Bapu, and three others including the pilot,crash-landed at a graveyard in Gomtipur area of Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon due to a technical snag. All of them escaped with minor injuries.

They were returning from Godhra when the chopper made an emergency landing. Airport director R K Singh said that a message was received at 4.22 pm about a helicopter’s “vertical landing” with four persons in it. “We immediately informed the police control room about the incident,” he added.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services officials also rushed to the spot. The private chopper was a four-seater aircraft that was carrying a pilot,Narayan and two other devotees of Asaram Ashram.

The Asaram Ashram had hired the chopper of Tej Airways. Pilot Dipak Nandlal Gupta,a native of New Delhi, was flying the chopper VTHPC 44 and also suffered minor injuries. They were taken to the Gomtipur police station to record their statements.

Incidentally, last August Asaram Bapu had escaped a similar crash when he was flying to Godhra for a spiritual event.
