Ahmedabad sees fall in housing projects

Ahmedabad recorded 66 per cent decline — the highest among major cities in the country — in the number of new housing projects launched.

In the first six months of 2013,Ahmedabad recorded 66 per cent decline — the highest among major cities in the country — in the number of new housing projects launched. Between January and June,about 1,700 new housing units were launched,which is significantly less than the 5,000-odd units that were launched during the same period in 2012,stated a report by global consultant Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) released on Tuesday.

Gaurakshaks held for ‘attacking’ butchers

The police arrested five gaurakshaks (cattle protectors) on Monday evening in Navsari for allegedly beating up butchers,a video clip of which was apparently circulated in the area. According to the police,the incident took place near Maroli outpost in Navsari district on April 5. Gaurakshaks stopped a tempo near Maroli crossroads that was ferrying cattle and allegedly beat the persons travelling in the vehicle.
