IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian — a key accused in Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi, and Tulsiram Prajapati encounter cases — on Monday moved an application before a special CBI court in Mumbai seeking arraignment of two policemen as accused in encounter cases. The two policemen have been cited as witnesses in the cases by the CBI.
Pandian’s move comes after special court’s order last week that arraigned Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) V A Rathod as accused in the case. Pandian has said that two policemen — Nathuba Jadeja and Gurudayal Chaudhary — should be made accused in the case since they played an active role in the encounter.

According to the CBI chargesheet, Jadeja and Chaudhary had travelled to Hyderabad along with Pandian who picked up Sohrabuddin. The two policemen were part of the alleged team that abducted Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati from a private bus at Sangli and brought them back to Ahmedabad.
In the chargesheet, the CBI mentioned that Jadeja was also the part of the accused police team that disposed of the body of Kauser Bi at Illol village in Sabarkantha, the native place of key accused D G Vanzara. The chargesheet states that while disposing the body, V A Rathod asked Jadeja about the identification the body upon which Jadeja replied that it was Kauser Bi.
Pandian has claimed in his petition that Jadeja’s role is more crucial than Rathod therefore, the former should also be made an accused. Pandian filed this application during the hearing on his discharge application. Jadeja and Rathod in their statements before the CBI have implicated Pandian and other accused.
