Following a High Court order,around 400 coal gas plants in ceramic units of Morbi have closed down,with industry associations deciding to raise prices of ceramic products as its fallout. Acting on a PIL,the HC ordered Gujarat Pollution Control Board to take action against polluting coal gas plants in Morbi. To assess the situation,four associations of Morbi held a joint meeting on Sunday and decided to shut down their gas plants immediately. The members agreed to close down around 400 coal gas plants and run their units on liquified Natural Gas supplied by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation. As a result,prices of ceramic products will go up, Prakash Varmora,manager of Morbi-Dhuva Glaze Tiles Association,said.
