40 Congress workers booked for unlawful assembly

The Vadodara police on Sunday detained at least 40 Congress workers,including the city party president Suresh Patel,for holding demonstrations during Chief Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city.

The Vadodara police on Sunday detained at least 40 Congress workers,including the city party president Suresh Patel,for holding demonstrations during Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city. They were protesting against the VMC authorities for ‘not carrying out’ major repairs.

Among the detained leaders were former Congress MLA Satyajit Gaekwad and VMC opposition leader Chirag Zaveri.

They were later taken to the Pratap Nagar Police Headquarters.

According to the police,the protestors were booked for unlawful assembly and disturbing police officers on duty.
