37 police stations to get child welfare officers

As many as 37 city and rural police stations in Vadodara will now have one child welfare officer each.

As many as 37 city and rural police stations in Vadodara will now have one child welfare officer each. They will either be the head constable or woman police constable. Twenty police stations in rural areas will have a woman head constable as child welfare officer. The arrangement has been put in place as per the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act,2000.

‘5,000 MW power generation capacity in Gujarat unused’

As much as 5,000 MW of installed power generation capacity in Gujarat lies unused because of “policy paralysis” on part of Centre,state Industries Minister Saurabh Patel said on the sidelines of a function in Vadodara Friday. “Power plants with generation capacity of 5,000 MW across the state had to be closed down because the Centre has not come up with a policy on selling power to other states.
