Two Youth Congress members were wounded during a scuffle with the police while trying to “inaugurate” a flyover near Town Hall on Monday. Congress leader Badruddin Shaikh and Ahmedabad City Congress president Pankaj Shah later said the Shaheed Veer Kinariwala Bridge was lying unused, despite being constructed a while ago, because no political leader was available for its inauguration. Shaikh informally inaugurated it,asking people to start using it. When the police tried to prevent this,a scuffle broke out between them and party workers, leading to Rahul Desai and Parthivrajsinh Kathvadia getting injured. The party claimed the two are Youth Congress leaders. They were admitted to V S Hospital. The party alleged that some freedom fighters were also heckled by the police. More than 150 party workers were detained.
