An 18-year-old girl from a Sanand village in Ahmedabad was allegedly raped and poisoned by her former employer after being abducted to Goa last month. An FIR at the Sanand police station was lodged late on Thursday night when the girl gained consciousness at the VS hospital in Ahmedabad,about three weeks after she consumed a poisonous substance.
According to police,the girl was allegedly abducted on March 20 by one Chandresh M Vaghela (32),a resident of Taran village in Sanand. Vaghela,with the help of his two relatives,took the girl to Goa where she was allegedly raped. On March 26,she was brought back to Muni Ashram near her village and was handed over to her mother.
Gagandip Gambhir,Ahmedabads Superintendent of Police,said that the police were not informed by her parents the day she was abducted. They got to know about the girl from the VS Hospital.
Based on the victims statement,we have booked the accused for kidnapping,rape and attempt to murder. We have recovered a bottle of medicine from the victims house which was used as a poison by the accused, Gambhir said. The girl had said that the accused had poisoned her,but the bottle of the medicine which she reportedly consumed was found from her home.
Police said that the after the girl was taken to the hospital,the aurthorities told them to bring the medicine bottle for examination. Her brother rushed back home and brought the bottle which has been sent to forensic examination. The girl was admitted to the Hospital on March 26 from where she was referred to the civil hospital after her condition was found to be critical. The victim narrated the story to her mother on Thursday night.
According to police,the victim has known Vaghela for a year as she was working as a labourer at his house.
