16 Surat children land in hospital after vaccination

Sixteen children who complained of giddiness after being administered measles vaccine were admitted to a hospital on Monday,officials said.

Sixteen children who complained of giddiness after being administered measles vaccine were admitted to a hospital on Monday,officials said.

“The Gujarat government’s measles immunisation programme began today. But as soon as the children were given the injections,they started feeling giddy. As a precautionary measure,we admitted them to Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research,” Health Officer of Surat Municipal Corporation Hemant Desai said.

“Two children have been kept under observation,” he said.

The measles vaccination campaign is part of Union government’s ‘Measles Routine Immunisation’ Project. It began in Rajkot on October 7 and was launched today in Ahmedabad and here.
