Japanese auto major Nissan Motor India on Friday announced the start of pre-booking of its soon-to-be launched Datsun GO+ compact family wagon in India.
Datsun GO+, which was previewed at the last Delhi Auto Expo, will be available for pre-booking between January 3-14, 2015. Prospective customers can pre-book their Datsun GO+ with a fully refundable amount of Rs 11,000 at any Nissan dealership across India, the company said in a press note.
Making the announcement, Guillaume Sicard, President, Nissan India Operations, said, “We are happy to offer our latest product Datsun GO+, a segment-creating Compact MPV to customers in India. The Datsun GO+ is our second product in the market after the Datsun GO and reiterates our commitment to India.”
The vehicle has an extended body version (5+2 seats) of the Datsun Go hatchback but it is less of an MPV and more of a station-wagon. Datsun will have to play the price card well and may put a starting price of Rs 3.99 lakh. It is expected to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and General Motors’ Enjoy.
Go+ is powered by the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which powers the Go hatchback. It generates a maximum power of 67 bhp and a maximum torque of 104 Nm. The company-claimed fuel-efficiency figure is 20.6 kmpl.
Datsun Go+ has a length of 3995mm, a width of 1635mm and a height of 1490mm. The wheelbase for the vehicle stands at 2450 mm while its ground clearance is 170 mm. The design of the vehicle is such that it would make navigating through the Indian roads easier with a turning radius of 4.6 metres tackling intense traffic easier.
In March, 2014, the Datsun brand made a global comeback with Nissan launching its entry level car ‘Datsun Go’ priced between Rs 3.12 lakh and Rs 3.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in India.
Datsun started sales in India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa from 2014.
