Kapas prices climbed by Rs 26 to Rs 890 per 20 kg in futures trading today on the back of firm domestic and overseas markets cue.
Marketmen said a firming domestic and global markets trend mainly encouraged traders to raise holdings.
Strong demand from consuming industries and restricted arrivals in physical markets also boosted the trading sentiments,they added.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange,kapas prices for delivery in February jumped up by Rs 26,or 3.01 per cent,to Rs 890 per 20 kg,with an open interest of 60 lots.
For delivery in March,Kapas prices shot up by Rs 20.50,or 2.33 per cent,to Rs 899.50 per 20 kg,with an open interest of three lots.
Kapas prices for delivery in April rose by Rs 16,or 1.77 per cent,to Rs 922 per 20 kg,with an open interest of 7,930 lots.
