Of late, the concept of self-drive rental cars has witnessed an increased amount of interest among people in the country. Since the market is still in a nascent stage in India, car rental firms try one way or the other to lure consumers from time to time. In its bid to do just that, Zoomcar – a 100 per cent self drive car rental service – has announced huge cut in their fares for renting their fleet of Tata Nano cars this summer. Starting from April 2015, the firm is providing Tata Nano on rent for a mere fare of Rs 19 per hour!
There’s a catch here though! The new tariff comes into effect for consumers in Bangalore city only. That said, the currently announced rates will make travelling in the city even cheaper than an auto, the company claims.
Recently, Zoomcar tied up with Tata Motors as it added 50 brand new Nanos to their fleet of cars. The company says the reduced rates will help Zoomcar tap people who prefer quick getaways and short haul trips during Summer.
Commenting on the introduction of these super-affordable rental tariffs, Greg Moran, Co-founder, Zoomcar said: “It gives us great pleasure to announce this new fare for citizens in Bangalore. There are many who like to drive down to nearby locations, especially college going kids for a short trip during summers. We believe Nano is perfectly suited for Indian conditions while it is also one of the most ‘convenient’ modes of transportation. The current rate has been arrived at; keeping in mind the young crowd that is passionate about travelling short distance and also to encourage them take up self-drive as a mode of transport.”
At present, Zoomcar operates in Delhi NCR, Pune and Bangalore with a fleet of over 1000 cars, ranging from the Ford Figo to the luxury cars such as the Mercedes A-Class, GLA-Class and BMW 3 Series. The company is headquartered in Bangalore.
