Nissan in India has set up a new dealership outlet at Andheri West in Mumbai. Run under the banner of Ritu Nissan, the newly inaugurated dealership is the 200th outlet in Nissan’s sales and service network in the country. The dealership will be catering to customers of both Nissan and Datsun (Nissan’s budget-arm) brands in the Mumbai area.
The Andheri showroom of Ritu Nissan is the fourth active outlet for the company in Mumbai after the existing dealerships in Thane, Bhiwandi and Bhandup. Thus far in 2015, Nissan India has added 18 new outlets to its network, including showrooms in Trichy, Tirupati, Sikar and Nasik in the last two months. Going forward, the company aims to add 300 touch points including sales and service outlets by end of the 2016 financial year.
Commenting on the occasion, Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan India said, “At Nissan India, we are proud to reach this significant milestone in such a short period of time. Establishing 200 outlets in a span of just five years not only makes our network one of the fastest growing in India, but puts us well on track to achieve our target of setting up 300 dealerships across the country by the end of fiscal year 2016. This expansion further strengthens Nissan’s commitment to its customers by bringing its world class products closer to its ever increasing consumer base.”
Nissan offers four models in India, namely the Micra, Sunny, Terrano and the Evalia.
Its sister brand Datsun on the other hand sells two models in the entry-level segment in India- the GO and GO+. While Nissan’s sales performance here is nothing to write home about, the company has been doing well in terms of customer satisfaction; it was ranked third in the ‘Sales Satisfaction Index’ by a recent J.D power survey. That said, Nissan needs to revise its aging model line-up quickly here in case it wants more customers to send positive feedback about the company in future surveys.
