Griffiths later told several reporters that “this is the first time in UN history” that the Security Council committee monitoring sanctions against Pyongyang has prohibited ships from entering all ports.

A surge of violence that erupted on April 22 has left more than 270 people dead in the divided northern city and undermined efforts to revive peace negotiations.
The consultations were urgently requested by the United States following North Korea’s unsuccessful launch of two missiles.
Some North Korea sanctions include mandatory inspections of cargo leaving and entering North Korea by land, sea or air; a ban on all sales or transfers of small arms and light weapons to Pyongyang among others.

Swaraj lamented that Africa despite being the largest continent in terms of number of the countries and India, which has has one-sixth of the world’s population, still don’t have permanent membership of the UNSC.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the security council must include members from the “world’s largest democracies, major locomotives of the global economy, and voices from all the major continents.”
