The posters portrayed BSP Supremo Mayavati alongside the cut-outs of other opposition leaders — Akhilesh Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav, Lalu Prasad, Sharad Yadav, Mamata Banerjee and Sonia Gandhi. It also carried pictures of some Dalit icons and BSP logo.
The senior BJP leader alleged that one Ramashray Prasad Yadav was made chairman of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) besides one Mohammad Shamim was nominated as an MLC from the governor’s quota when the RJD was in power.
The cases lodged in connection with the NGO’s alleged swindling of public money were being investigated by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar police. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recommended a CBI probe into the matter on August 17.
According to sources, Sharad Yadav did not approve of Nitish Kumar’s move to dump the “grand alliance” and form a government with BJP in Bihar. The former JD(U) president is also said to be “upset” over not being taken into “confidence” by the chief minister before he decided to align with the BJP.
Prasad and Nitish, friend-turned-foe in state politics, sank their differences to revive an alliance that began over 40 years ago with students’ agitation, which soon turned into a pan-India movement led by veteran socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan.
“After the publication of matric and intermediate results the matter is coming out in the shape of a scam. After all why did all this happen?” said Upendra Kushwaha
The RJD chief had complained of severe dehydration and was not able to attend the June 3 DMK event in Chennai.
Terming Modi’s allegations as “baseless”, RJD’s national spokesman Manoj Jha said Modi has “gone berserk” and was making “baseless and imaginery charges” against Prasad and his family members.
The approach road that Nitish and Lalu opened was to the Patna-Sonepur bridge, which was built by the Centre and opened by Narendra Modi.
Prasad got two plots of land allotted in his name in violation of the MLA Cooperative Society’s bye-laws, Modi said adding that the bye-laws allowed allotment of only one plot to a member of the Society.
The development follows the arrest of chartered accountant Rajesh Kumar Agrawal by the Enforcement Directorate on May 22.
