Expressing sadness over the treatment meted out to Jadhav’s mother and wife during their recent visit to Pakistan, she said humanity should be treated above politics. Mehbooba made the statement in a tweet in Urdu on the micro blogging site Twitter.
Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif rejected Indian allegations and stated that the meeting of Jadhav with his wife and mother on December 25 was permitted on humanitarian grounds.
“Regardless of political differences, when it comes to nation’s dignity and another country misbehaves with our mothers & sisters, it will not be tolerated,” Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said on the treatment meted out to Kulbhushan Jadhav’s family in Pakistan.
“A meeting of a mother with her son and a wife with her husband was turned into a propaganda tool by Pakistan,” said Sushma Swaraj on meeting of Kulbhushan Jadhav with his family in Islamabad on December 25.

“We, as Indians, protest this strongly and condemn strongly this act of Pakistani government and we would like to discuss, show our displeasure tomorrow on the floor of the House. This was the single most important case, we did not want to continue the impasse,” Azad said
Moily also said that the external affairs ministry should have spoken with its Pakistani counterpart or Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have taken up the matter with the Pakistani premier. “This was a total diplomatic failure,” Moily said.
“If Pakistan has declared Kulbhushan Jadhav as a terrorist in their country, then they will treat him like one (terrorist). In our country also, we should treat terrorists in the similar manner. Terrorists should be dealt strictly,” Naresh Agarwal told ANI.
“Pakistan media is very irresponsible, it is not responsible like the Indian media,” Kiren Rijiju said.
The moment Parliament met after a four-day break, Opposition members condemned the hostile reception accorded to Jadhav’s wife Chetna and mother Avanti during their visit.
Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson said Kulbhushan Jadhav’s wife had been provided with replacement shoes and all her jeweller was returned.
