The case, based on a CBI FIR that names Lalu, his son Tejashwi and wife Rabri Devi, pertains to alleged favour given by Lalu as Railway Minister to a company in cornering tenders for maintenance of two IRCTC hotels.
The number of trains whose status can be known by a toll free SMS has been increased to 1,373 trains. The new additions now include Garib Rath, Duronto, Jan Shatabdi, suvidha, Humsafar, Superfast and Premium trains.
The statement also said that the railways already has an ongoing drive against ticket-less travellers and such illegal ticket booking, which creates artificial shortages of tickets.
According to the CBI, Ajay Garg had allegedly developed a software that could simultaneously book more than a thousand tickets through one portal.
According to IRCTC, a total of 300 breakfast was served in the morning which included 170 vegetarian and 130 non-vegetarian breakfast.
Service charges on booking train tickets online through IRCTC ranges from Rs 20 to 40 per ticket.
The IRCTC note said if banks are willing to offer zero transaction charges to customers, then it could extent direct debit card integration on the site.
This would mean tickets on these trains are going to cost less than those with pre-booked meals. Passengers, however, cannot change their option during the journey once they opt out.
On Monday morning, railway activist Harsha Shah got hold of one of the staffers working with VMT Caterers and reported him to the authorities and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), following which a non-cognisable offence was registered against the vendor under section 144 (A) of the Railway Act.
The railway ministry in a series of tweets today said these water vending machines (WVMs) will provide clean drinking water at low cost, and that the initiative will help in generating employment for around 2,000 people.
