Fomer aide of godman was shot at on May 23
The Superme Court Monday refused to stall the trial against self-styled godman Asaram Bapu in a sexual assault case.
Defence counsel had moved the application on May 1 and cited the victims’ pre-school certificate as a ground.
Asaram had complained to the jail authorities that he had been suffering from insomnia and bodyache for quite some time.
Gupta was associated with Asaram since 1996 when his father and mother were followers of the godman.
The police filed the chargesheet before Chief Judicial Magistrate J B Parikh in Gandhinagar.
Narayan Sai had stayed at the ashram and the goshala in Ludhiana,which is located in the same village,while he was on the run.
A local court on Friday remanded Narayan Sai to police custody for six more days till December 18.
Police said Sai’s associates had tried to bribe authorities to dilute case against him.
During investigation Sai accepted having physical relationships with eight of his female disciples.

FIR was filed against Sai and Asaram based on the complaint of two Surat-based sisters.
Janki said that her marriage with Sai failed because of her husbands relationship with his disciple.
She said Narayan Sai had physical relations with several ‘disciples’ in Asaram’s ashram.
