“Opeartion all-out will continue till there is peace in Kashmir,” DGP SP Vaid, Jammu and Kashmir said.
Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abu Ismail, the mastermind behind the July 10 attack on Amarnath yatra pilgrims, was among two terrorists killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowgam.
Abu Ismail was mostly active in Kulgam and Anantnag districts of south Kashmir and came on the radar of the security forces after a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims returning from the Amarnath Yatra was attacked in Anantnag town near Khanbal in July.
The Army and Police had cordoned the area after receiving inputs that top Lashkar commander, Abu Ismail was hiding in the area.
According to police officials, acting on a tip-off on presence of militants, a joint team of Awantipora Police, 50 Rashtriya Rifle and CRPF launched a cordon and search operations in Samboora village on Sunday night.
