The Delhi government has identified 141 black spots on the basis of three fatal accidents occurring within 500-metre radius of a particular road stretch every year. Few of them include Shastri Park, NH 8, ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Peera Garhi area, Majnu-ka-Tilla among others.
The AAP had, in its annual budget, announced that it would set up multiple academies. At a recent press conference, Manish Sisodia said he had been reviewing the arts and culture department since taking charge and “realised that the approach towards languages needed to be changed extensively”.
The AAP, which came to power in February 2015, has had frequent run-ins with the BJP-led Centre and the Lt Governor’s office over various issues. The party has repeatedly accused the Centre of “not allowing” the Delhi government to work freely.
The Supreme Court, in its ruling, had emphasised on the need of caution while exercising the drastic power of arrest, which has for years, been treated as a tool of harassment, oppression in the hands of the police authorities and greatly contributed to police corruption in India.
The petitioners have contended they were being asked to obtain licences in the individual category by misinterpreting the Motor Vehicles Act. Magic Sewa has also alleged that the government was also asking city taxi aggregators to submit bank guarantees of Rs 15 lakh which were in excess of what was permitted under the law.
In its May 29 notice, sent to several defaulting schools, the DoE had said that failure to refund the excess fees as recommended by the panel could lead to de-recognition of the institution or taking over of its management by the department as per the Delhi School Education Act and Rules of 1973.
The BJP has asked the AAP government to announce compensation for Delhi’s municipal corporations which would lose revenue after GST is implemented in the state.
The committee was formed in response to allegations of irregularities in the process of awarding tenders — a pre-election promise by AAP.
The Delhi government made the announcement after Lt Governor Najeeb Jung approved the proposal Monday.
The ACB had started the probe on the basis of a complaint by BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta.
Senior advocate N Hariharan, who appeared for the Delhi government, said the channels reported about clash between students groups at JNU and showed footage of the incident which happened at the university campus on February 9.
Passengers will have to book their seats in advance, said the official, as “these buses cannot pick up any passenger from any spot”.
“We have noticed there is a pattern to the problems… It looks like wilful sabotage,” said Transport Minister Gopal Rai.
Schools in the capital were shut Friday on the occasion of Ram Navami.
AAP government has done away with many infrastructure-related features of the projects and thus the cost of the project was low, Vijendra Gupta said.
